Product Description
Aksaray, one of the oldest settlements in Anatolia, boasts a rich cultural fabric with architectural heritage from various civilizations. Examining the spatial distribution of civilian architectural examples, which constitute a significant part of the city's cultural heritage, Ulucami (Grand Mosque) and Uluırmak (Grand River) generally stand out as important elements. The city's oldest residential neighborhoods were established around Ulucami and along the Uluırmak. These historical neighborhoods, shaped around Ulucami and Uluırmak, consist of irregular streets in some places and stone-walled houses lined along these streets. Very few of these houses, which define the traditional residential architecture of Aksaray, have survived to the present day. This book examines the historical Aksaray houses, which are examples of stone civilian architecture in the Central Anatolia Region. The historical Aksaray houses, with their locational characteristics, facade arrangement, and distinctive structure, differentiate themselves from other stone civilian architectural examples in both the Inner and Central Anatolian Regions and the rest of Anatolia, forming their own unique character. These houses, about which you can find much more detailed information within the book, also provide insights into the lifestyle, culture, architectural knowledge, and construction systems of an era.
