In Anatolia, a unique land with a rich cultural heritage, the history of housing and settlements that have emerged, developed, and transformed from mere shelter into much more since the beginning, became the subject of an exhibition and a book. Indeed, neither an exhibition nor a book alone would be sufficient to tell the rich story of these lands where humans have lived and sheltered since their appearance on Earth. However, both the exhibition and the book were the first examples of presenting all the accumulated knowledge together; therefore, it was an exciting endeavor. It provided the opportunity to perceive Anatolian cultures as a whole and to trace interactions and continuities. Above all, it offered us the chance to observe the interesting evolution of humanity's struggle for shelter reaching its current forms (!) and standards (!). A temporary exhibition, by necessity, had to conclude with a book aiming for permanence.
