Democracy of Design and Istanbul

Interactive Design Process... A situation where mutual experiences nurture, and professional accumulation and daily life, in other words, the designer and the city dweller, work together, hand in hand. A democratic and humane approach, perhaps what should be... But what happens when today's conditions are added to this situation? If the global order, and the uncatchable pace of life in metropolises, put the designer, the city dweller, and an investor into the same dilemma, how should we coexist? We don't know how long our new world, where intertwining increases every day, and the borders between cities and countries become more blurred, will last as a single "place". But we constantly ask some questions and question what is happening.

Who is Prof.Dr. ECE CEYLAN BABA?

She completed her undergraduate education at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Department of Architecture, her master's degree at Yeditepe University, Department of Architecture, and her doctoral program at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Architectural Design Problems Program.

Ece Ceylan Baba, who became an associate professor in 2016 and a professor in 2021, served as the Head of the Department of Architecture at Yeditepe University Faculty of Architecture between May 2017 and 2021. Since June 2021, Ece Ceylan Baba has been serving as the Dean of Yeditepe University Faculty of Architecture.

Baba works in the academic field on architectural utopias and dystopias, high-rise development, globalization, user participation, environmental and urban psychology, housing typologies, and the concept of loft; she continues her studies, research, and publications in these areas.

In addition to her academic work, Ece Ceylan Baba continues her professional career as the founding partner of Baba Mimarlık and is a Board Member of the non-governmental organizations İMSAD and TUCSA.
