Design Philosophy

Design is not merely an engineering task; it is the creation of new design models in science, philosophy, technology, and art by the thinking person. As a philosophy of design, aesthetics is closely related to the sciences, not only epistemologically but also ontologically.

Science is also a system of creation and design; every theory in science is a design model created upon existence, and the change of theories is essentially the change of design models. Accordingly, aesthetics, as a science of creation and design, lies at the foundation of all sciences.

The Philosophy of Design constitutes the final link in a long chain of books within İsmail Tunalı's forty-year oeuvre. Tunalı, who 'since his first books, has sought alternative existences to nature and, on that path, has contemplated the design-based existence of art,' develops 'a philosophical understanding of the ontological world of art' with the present work.
