Product Description

Danyal Çiper is an Ankara-based architect who gained recognition especially in the last years of his architectural career; despite never having a concern for "being recognized" throughout his life due to his demeanor and character... His uncompromising stance, so prominent that it gives its name to the book, manifests itself as an integral character trait in both Çiper's professional and private life. Danyal Çiper adopts the organic architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright, whom he considered a "master" and referred to as his "boss," and his school of thought. He maintains this stance uncompromisingly throughout his entire professional life. When looking at Çiper's body of work (oeuvre), it will predominantly be seen that he subtly interpreted and used the structures of his "master" Wright as a source for his architecture. In the few interviews where he defined his architectural understanding, he calls his architecture "realistic architecture"; what he means by this is an explicit construction language and the function it serves. Çiper is someone who never wrote about architecture, rarely spoke, but always designed and drew a lot. He carried on his architectural life, spanning the second half of the twentieth century, entirely and solely as himself. The act of designing is a way of life for Danyal Çiper.

The book "An Uncompromising Modernist Architect: Danyal Tevfik Çiper" consists of articles evaluating/positioning Danyal Tevfik Çiper and his architecture; interviews conducted with him; Çiper's biography shaped by interviews with his relatives; and catalog sections largely containing drawings of his available projects.
