Product Description
Continuous advancements in science lead to new possibilities. An old work gives way to a new one. Consequently, historical stone bridges have also taken a backseat compared to reinforced concrete and steel bridges, and some have been abandoned to ruin due to neglect. Nevertheless, there are still stone bridges that are in use today. The purpose of this work is to create a history of these historical bridges and to keep their value and memories alive. The subject of bridges has been addressed generally in this work. However, the studies have focused more on Turkish bridges.
Over the centuries, no comprehensive and in-depth study has been conducted on our "Stone Bridges" among the architectural works that represent the milestones of Turkish civilization, spanning from Central Asia, starting with Samarkand, through the Ghaznavids, Great Seljuks, Artuqids, Anatolian Seljuks, and Ottomans, extending towards Anatolia, Thrace, and the Balkans, along the Danube, and to the Adriatic coast. In this respect, I believe that this subject will fill a significant void.
