Product Description

Sedad Hakkı Eldem (1908-1988) is one of the most important figures in Turkish architecture. He signed off on important structures for contemporary Turkish architecture, and in addition to his architectural practices, he always served as a pioneer in Turkish architecture with his research-oriented approach, his place in the education world, and his books. Eldem's book Yapı (Construction) is an important resource for Turkish architects, architecture students, and anyone interested in construction. The book Yapı has been published by Birsen Yayınevi since 1973. As Sedad Hakkı Eldem stated in the preface of the book, the content included 'simple and traditional structural details', 'traditional and modern parts of construction techniques' were explained with drawings, 'the opportunities provided by the developing local construction and material industry were taken into account', and 'old wall and vault masonry and wooden frameworks' were also included in the Yapı book. Example application projects were presented to the reader to explain architectural technical drawing rules in detail.
Sedad Hakkı Eldem's Yapı (1) (Volume 1) book continues to be a reference book used by a wide readership to this day. The book Yapı 2-3-4 (Volume 2), prepared by Murat Soygeniş, continues this book with current design, construction techniques, details, and application projects. It completes the sections not found in Eldem's Yapı book, staying within the triangle of design-technology-detail. In addition, it presents application projects from Turkey and abroad, helping architects and students to see that construction-related topics, with a multifaceted approach, are actually a continuation of design.
As Birsen Yayınevi, we are pleased to support the Yapı 1-2-3-4 book. Our publishing house has always supported science, technology, and art in the information age, and has always advocated and supported innovative topics that carry our present into the future. In this context, we are proud to share with you the books Yapı (1) (Volume 1) by Sedad Hakkı Eldem and Yapı 2-3-4 (Volume 2) by Murat Soygeniş.
