Product Description

With the belief that a modern building must be a building with a well-resolved design, structural system, and structural details, I have tried to compile some of the knowledge regarding structural solutions that I have accumulated over the years from my university teaching and personal experiences in this book titled "Yapım" (Construction). This book covers the general principles of water/moisture, thermal, and sound insulation, as well as essential building elements such as foundations, walls, floors, and roofs, and topics related to masonry and timber structures. Building information topics are an integral part of the architectural profession, continuing from the first day of education throughout an architect's life. In the interior and exterior design of every building, new problems unique to that building emerge. A new function, a new material, a new method create different structural problems. To overcome these problems, it becomes important to create original solutions by understanding the reasons and principles rather than relying on stereotyped details. For this reason, while trying to be instructive and providing commonly known examples in my book, I also made an effort to emphasize solution principles intensely, to an extent that some readers might find overly theoretical.
While preparing the book, I compiled information that I believe will be useful not only for architecture and engineering students but also for practicing architects and engineers, going beyond what is strictly required. I aimed to explain each topic with definitions, tasks, reasons, principles, and solution examples. Regarding the topics discussed, the latest available and accessible Turkish Standards were reviewed, and important points were transferred to the book. How some topics are addressed in the standards of other countries has been shown comparatively. The conditions of the newly enacted Disaster Regulation, especially concerning Masonry Structures and Timber Structures, have been included and emphasized in the relevant sections of the book. In our country, emphasis has been placed on theoretically correct methods, those suggested by our regulations and standards, and those mostly applied in developed Western countries, rather than those commonly practiced in the market.
