Product Description

A journey from Yavuz Turgul to Terrence Malick… Even imagining such a journey pleased me, and when I first thought of it, it was just a dream. It's possible to say that both directors are interested in what is passing. Badlands, Days of Heaven, The New World, or Eşkıya, Muhsin Bey, Gölge Oyunu focus on the loss of innocence. Another similarity between Malick and Turgul lies in their methods of film production. Both made films starting from a painting. Malick attributes the emergence of Days of Heaven to a painting by Andrew Wyeth, while Turgul bases Av Mevsimi on a drawing by Yavuz Tanyeli. When the intuitive dimension in their cinemas is understood, this relationship will appear even more meaningful to us.

In this book, a compilation of my articles published in magazines such as Altyazı, Sekans, Toplumbilim, Sufi Araştırmaları, and Özne Felsefe, three articles are about creation myths, the body, and cyberpunk in cinema. The other ten articles largely discuss director's cinema through the roster of Yavuz Turgul, Onur Ünlü, John Woo, David Cronenberg, Martin Scorsese, Brian De Palma, Ethem Özgüven, Chris Marker, Bernardo Bertolucci, and Terrence Malick.
