Time - Space: Concepts and Experiences

“The genesis of this book is rooted in the desire to put into print approximately fifteen years of studio experience. Since its establishment, the KOÜ Introduction to Architectural Design Studio, to which numerous individuals, primarily Murat Uluğ and Elif Yeşim Özgen Kösten, have contributed, offers an experimental environment where fundamental and contemporary concepts related to architecture are explored and re-produced through design. This book aims to open up these years-long experiences to discussion by engaging with other experiences.

The content of the book, which aims to reconstruct the environment of encounter inherent in a design studio, consists of responses to the major concepts that shape the studio's structure. Undoubtedly, going into print means opening up to the outside. In this regard, texts from individuals who have contributed to the studio over time – from within – are combined with texts from individuals who have no direct contact with the studio – from outside. Thus, the book, similar to a studio environment, transforms into a polyphonic collection of texts that contain dissent, criticism, and contradiction.”
